A fee is paid upon submission of application and is non-refundable. Fees are liable to change without prior notice. When submitting an application for residence- and work permit you usually have to pay a fee to both the Danish Immigration Service and to the Embassy.

1. To the Danish Immigration Service

As of 1 January 2011, a separate fee will have to be paid to the Danish Immigration Service before applying for a residence and/or work permit at the Embassy. Please follow scrupulously the procedures described in the link below before submitting your application for residence and/or work permit to the Embassy.

For details on the individual application fees and how to pay please see:

Fees in the areas of residence permit

The fee covers the Danish Immigration Service’s case processing of the application.

From 15 May 2012, fees will no longer be charged when submitting applications for family reunification, when appealing a decision or when requesting that an application for family reunification be reopened.

The rule change also applies when appealing a decision in a family reunification application submitted before 15 May 2012, and thus was subject to a fee.

2. To the Danish Embassy in Hanoi or to the Danish Trade Office in Ho Chi  Minh City

When an application is lodged with a Danish mission abroad this incurs a fee according to the Executive Order Payment for Services provided by the Danish Foreign Service.

A fee of VND 4,800,000 (DKK 1435) must be paid when a residence permit application is lodged. The applicant receives a receipt and he/she is reminded that in the event of refusal, the fee is not reimbursed.

The fee covers the Embassy’s involvement in the expedition and processing of the application and issuance of the visa-sticker if applicable.

3. To the Danish Visa Applications Centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

Applications lodged at the Danish Visa applications Centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are subject to an additional service fee. For more information please visit the website of the Danish Visa Application Centers.

From 1 July 2019, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark including all Danish diplomatic missions are introducing online payment of the embassy fee for residence or work permit.

The embassy fee should be paid online using this link

The receipt for the payment should be submitted at the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS) when you hand in your passport, relevant documentation and supply biometrics. Please note that in R/W permit cases there are three fees to be paid. 1) The fee to either The Danish Immigration Service or The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI), 2) the fee to the Danish embassy (using the link and 3) the fee to the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS).

If the applicant is visa excempted the visa fee will be returned to the credit card once the Embassy process the application.

In the event of a refusal, the fee is not reimbursed. For applications lodged at VFS in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City an additional service fee will be applicable.
