The Danish Growth Strategy for Vietnam

Vietnam has been labelled one of the “Next Eleven” economies with a potential to become one of the world’s largest economies in the 21st century. Vietnam has earned this label particularly due to its consistent high economic growth rates, averaging 7% over the past two decades and its growing population of now 90 million people.

In 2012 the Danish Government launched its Growth Market Strategy for Vietnam.  The Growth Market Strategy aims at making it easier for Danish companies to do business in Vietnam, especially in key areas where Danish expertise and know-how match Vietnamese challenges and demands. This includes the following sectors, where Danish companies have core competences:

• Green Growth
• Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
• Health
• Education

The strategy sets a target of doubling Danish exports of basic goods to Vietnam between 2011 and 2016.
